There are two small ports for boats from Samaria.
It’s a small village but with all facilities like: restaurants, taverns, mini markets, gas station and ATM.
There is a beach called Vrisi, it is a quiet beach with access from some stairs on the side or in the middle of the beach.
It has also shower facilities, and sunbeds .
It’s also perfect for the nature lovers, since its surrounded by nature and also a nudist hotel.
Sfakia and all surounding area are very historical places since many of the Cretan heroes were born there and many revolutions started and were organised in Sfakia.

Samaria Gorge is a very popular gorge, it is approximately 18km long and it is a great big walk where you can enjoy the nature.
Those who don’t want to walk that long, they can access Samaria by boat from Sfakia to Agia Roumeli,
which is at the end of Samaria and can then walk uphill till the middle of the Gorge.
Loutro is a secret gem in the area.
Another very interesting excursion is from Sfakia by the boat to Loutro, Agia Roumeli, Sougia, Palaiochora and Gaydos.
Near by is also Fragkokastello with a beautiful castle on the beach and a bit further the famous beaches of Korakas and Agia Marina.
