It is famous because it’s the birthplace of Domenikos Theotokopoulos, the famous renaissance painter, also known as El Greco.

The place is within walking distance about 1km from the village center which is built in a valley full of lemon and orange groves famous all over the island.

The area is very green because the village is located near the river Pantomantris.

Just 3km north of the village is Fodele beach the western part of which is well organized with umbrellas, sun beds, shower facilities, water sports, cafes and tavernas.

By visiting both the village and the beach and the museum you can have a full taste of the place.
