Milatos is a very quiet village with pebbled beaches and a small port and it is  a family friendly choice.

It is well known for the Cave of Milatos where a massacre happened   by the Turks in 1823.

The cave is today open for visit and has a small church inside.

From Milatos you can take your auto rental and drive to Agios Nikolaos, Kritsa and Lato

( Lato was one of the most important Doric city-states in Crete)  which is 40 minutes away.

You can also visit Elounda and Spinalonga.

From Milatos you can also visit Lasithi plateau with the cave of Zeus, Krasi, Mohos.

Daily trips in Crete, from Milatos

An excursion from Milatos with your rental car from AutoRentals Crete to the Lasithi plateau is a great choice.
Starting from the fishing village of Milatos you will pass south from Sissi and reach Stalida.
There, you can enjoy your swimming in one of the wonderful beaches of the village.
Then, you can take the road to the plateau and passing by Mohos village take a coffee break in Krasi
where you can see the big famous Platanos tree which is more than 1000 years old.
Continuing and passing the monastery of Ano Kera you will reach the Plateau where driving west you will reach Psychro village.
There, you will visit the Ideon Andron or Cave of Zeus.
Once you have finished your visit, there are several traditional taverns around and like everywhere in Crete, they have a high sense of hospitality.
Now, continuing east and between many traditional villages shortly after Agios Konstantinos you will descend from the Plateau towards Neapoli.
After exploring Neapolis, a visit to the port of Sissi which is very close to Milatos is mandatory.
