Paleochora  is a lovely village located in a small peninsula south west in Chania prefecture and is 210km from Heraklion airport and 90km from Chania airport.

It was a popular destination for  hippies in the 70s and one of the fastest-growing places on the island but it retains its relaxed atmosphere.

Right at the foot of the village there is a long beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear waters and all facilities but there are also a couple of pebble beaches around the village.

Paleochora has a big selection of tavernas, restaurants, cafes, snack bars, bars in every corner to choose from and a great variety of hotels,

apartments, rooms to rent, airbnb that cater every budget.

Other facilities include supermarkets, bank branches, pharmacies, post office, police station, health care centre and many shops.

From the beautiful Venetian fort which was destroyed many times, one of which was by the famous pirate Barbarosa, you can enjoy the views of the area.

From the small harbour there are ferry boats connecting the village with Sougia, Agia Roumeli, Loutro, Chora Sfakion, and Gavdos.

Also the path E4 is here for some hike if you are fan of the sport.

As Paleochora is further southwest, it is farway from all but exept from

the boat trips, you can easily drive to Sougia and another day to Elafonisi.

A day to Kastelli Kisamos and Chania town is a must.

And for sure Sfinari and Falasarna are waiting  you.
